Playground Rules and Procedures for Students

The Playground Boundary
¨
All
students must stay inside the fence and out of the parking areas.
¨
Students
must not climb over a fence.
¨
Students
are only allowed outside the boundary if given permission by an adult
supervisor.
¨
The
lines on the driveway near the ball diamond are an “imaginary fence”. Students must not cross the line without
permission from a supervisor.
¨
KEEP YOUR HANDS AND FEET TO
YOURSELF. This means that you should not be push,
pull, grab, trip, hit or kick anyone.
Playing games where you are grabbing someone or their coat or clothes is
not allowed.
¨
Say
nice things rather than mean things.
¨
Talk
peaceably rather than arguing with others.
¨
Share
rather than demand everything for yourself.
¨
Include
other people in your games rather than telling them they can’t play.
¨
Say
something nice to a person when he/she tries to play a game even though he/she
may not be very good at the game yet.
They will get better with practice.
¨
Treat
other people the same way you want to be treated.
ü
Sit
down on the slide. Do not stand up.
ü
Slide
down with your feet first.
ü
Do
not walk up the slide from the bottom.
ü
Do
not put rocks or wood chips on the slides.
ü
Keep
your legs and arms inside the slide.
ü
Stay
inside the slide while going down. Do
not jump over the side.
ü
Only
one person at a time is allowed to slide down.
ü
Sit
on the seat.
ü
Swing
straight ahead. Do not twist.
ü
Only
one person is allowed in a swing at a time.
ü
Do
not push someone else. No “underdogs”
are allowed.
ü
Never
grab someone who is on the bars or rings.
ü
Do
not stand on top of the high parallel bars.
ü
Playing
“chicken” on the bars is not allowed.
ü
There
should be no more than 15 students on the merry-go-round at one time.
ü
Stay
on it until it stops. Do not jump off
while it is moving.
ü
While
sitting or standing on the merry-go-round, do not push or pull on other
students.
ü
Hang
onto the bars while the merry-go-round is moving.
ü
Do
not drag your feet, arms or bodies.
ü
Keep
your body parts inside the merry-go-round while it is moving.
Playground Balls
¨
Do
not throw balls against the side of the building.
¨
Do
not kick balls while you are on the pavement.
¨
Throw
footballs only while you are on the playing field, not on the pavement.
¨
Bring
in any balls that you take outside. If
you see other balls lying around without anyone playing with them, please bring
those balls in too.
¨
Return
the balls to the ball racks that are inside the building.
¨
Do
not bring toys to school.
¨
Radios,
CD players, and video games are not allowed on the playground.
¨
Remote
control cars and trucks are not allowed.
¨
Hardballs
and baseball bats are not allowed on the playground.
¨
Stuffed
animals and dolls are not allowed on the playground.
¨
Use
jump ropes appropriately—for jumping.
¨
Do
not swing them around with only one end in your hand so that the other end is
flying through the air.
¨
Do
not play tug-of-war.
¨
Do
not tie up other students or wrap the jump rope around them.
¨
All
jump ropes, hop-skips, and hoola hoops must remain on the pavement. Do not take them out onto the grass or wood
chips.
¨
Return
jump ropes and hop-skips to the rack inside the building.
¨
The
general rule is that “anybody can play if he/she wants to play”.
¨
When
choosing sides, choose one player at a time.
¨
Only
touch football is allowed. When playing
touch football, pushing someone down is not allowed.
¨
Soccer
is played with the feet, not the hands.
Play by the rules of the game.
¨
Soccer
games do not include pushing or tripping other players.
When the bell rings, stop playing immediately.
¨
Stop
when the bell rings, don’t wait for an adult supervisor to tell you to do so.
¨
Stop
what you are doing and walk toward the building.
¨
Bring
any unused balls, jump ropes, hoola hoops, etc. into the building when you
come.
