This is a full year work/study class in library science limited to two students per class period. Students learn basic circulation procedures and problems, library arrangement, library materials, simple reference work, roles of all library personnel, and fundamental research techniques useful in all courses of study. This course will prepare students for working as pages in a library and give them the necessary background for further career training in library science. If all requirements are met, students will receive an S (satisfactory) grade.
STUDENTS MAY NOT EXCEED A TOTAL OF TWO SEMESTERS (.5 CREDIT) IN THE INDIVIDUAL STUDIES CATEGORY WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL OR BE ENROLLED IN MORE THAN ONE HOUR PER DAY.
PEER COUNSELING WILL BE TREATED AS AN INDIVIDUAL STUDY. A TOTAL OF UP TO 4 SEMESTERS MAY BE EARNED BY A PEER COUNSELOR, OR A COMBINATION OF INDIVIDUAL STUDIES (.5 CR/2 SEMESTERS) AND PEER COUNSELING (.5 CR/2 SEMESTERS). STUDENTS MAY NOT HAVE MORE THAN ONE HOUR PER DAY IN THE INDIVIDUAL STUDIES CATEGORY.
