Intramural Sports Program
Purpose: to follow recommendations by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education which includes providing both competitive and recreational activities that build on the activities offered in our regular physical education program where all activities offered are modified whenever necessary to accommodate the developmental levels and diverse skills of all students.
Dear Parents:
Throughout the year SCMS offers a variety of activities through our Intramural Program. We especially encourage sixth graders to get involved as the team sports offered at the Middle School pertain exclusively to the 7
th and 8
th graders. Last year, we offered flag football, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, open gyms, free throw tournament, lacrosse, bowling, dodge ball tournament, speedstacks, tennis, and pickleball. All these activities are geared to develop mental awareness, hand-eye coordination, increase reaction time, gain confidence, and meet new friends all in this one program.
Special ribbons, certificates and/or medals are awarded to the participants. To find out more information, view the dodge ball tournament power point, or look at our bowling pictures, you can check out our web site under Middle School that resembles the above picture. To alleviate paperwork, we encourage you to fill out the permission slip, attached and return to the Main Office, no later than September 14, 2012. This way, regardless if your child decides to participate in one, all, or none of the activities, I will have their permission slip on file. They can, however, turn it in anytime. For a schedule of events, students can view the show case next to the main office, check out our website, listen to announcements, email schiano@swcrk.org, call me (810) 591-1729 or visit my own website at http://schiano.wordpress.com. Please contact me if I can assist you in anyway!
Thank you,
Mrs. Chiano & Mrs. Blevins
