3. Go back and make sure your heading is completely filled in for across the top.

Transition Day – went over the scantron portion of the test

Cleaned out folders, turned in unit work for last unit

Assigned new seats for the new unit

Began our unit on motion with a roller coaster video

Notes and discussion on new topic – MOTION

Defined speed and velocity and tried sample problems

 

Learn the formula     v =d/t      and the units for speed

 2.  Where is instantaneous speed found on distance time graph?

Went over the last 3 days assignments in review

       Practiced more V = d/t  calculation and necessary units

Went over the answer to yesterday’s practice problems and the answers to the Interpret the Graph assignment

       2. What is formula for finding speed?

       3.  What would be our units for this lab?

 Finished our Physics 500 Lab from Friday and turned it in

 LOTS OF TIME NEEDED to do this lab.

Teacher went to each pair to see how their numbers were working out and tried to show each group where their errors were.

1.  What is your average speed walking between your last class to this class?

You can estimate and figure it out. Don’t wimp out on me.  Try to picture a meter stick and how long it takes you to walk that many.

2.  Now go back and make your speed a velocity.

 Read a packet and worked with partners on more velocity, distance and time problems

 Passed back graded work, discussed Ch. 8.1 quiz coming up

 Highlighted some of the reading selections in Chapter 8 REMINDED students about green WS (homework) on Ch. 8

 Worked on acceleration problems using a roller coaster drawing and discussion on velocity  and acceleration

WAIT FOR MOVIE – Then take 5 notes

Watched a roller coaster clip and took notes about it

Corrected our graphs from last night, finished questions in the roller coaster packet – worked in pairs, lots of help given

Analyzed Velocity-Time graphs and Distance-time graphs and answered a series of questions about them

 

What handouts or materials were passed out?

2 worksheets of graphs and questions – students worked in pairs to complete them - GOOD ASSIGNMENT TO DO WITH A TUTOR

Roller coaster lab – showed Ms. Pettit graph (Monday’s HW)

Started a discussion on gravity – what is it, what causes it

NOTES to KNOW: GRAVITY IS AN ACCELERATION, when combined with your mass it creates a FORCE on the Earth.
