The Swartz Creek Historical Society has been researching a paragraph in the local history book "Going up the Swartz" which stated the name Dragon was used by the Flint Journal when the class C, Mary Crapo football team won the Championship for the seventh straight year in 1946. A review of the 1946 year book and micro film at the Flint Public Library confirmed this. Diane Finn was a teacher who did research on schools for inclusion in the history book in 1976. School year books were named the Spectrum until 1948 when the year book was renamed the Dragon

A winning football team, a nickname from the Flint Journal and the rest is history!
