What is MTSS?

MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.  In the past, Swartz Creek Community Schools referred to our RtI (Response to Intervention) and PBiS (Positive Behavior Supports) systems as methods to tier intervention and support our students.  Both the RtI and PBiS models are considered multi-tiered systems of support.  By using the MTSS acronym, we can now refer to our complete set of systems (reading, writing, math, behavior, etc.) that offer the necessary supports for our students.

Through the Swartz Creek MTSS process we:

  •         analyze data
  •         make student  centered decisions
  •         group or tier learners with interventions and support
  •         monitor our students’ progress

It takes the whole community, parents, teachers, and staff to fully support our students.

We expect to:

  • promote a culture of learning
  • collaborate with students, staff and parents
  • provide leadership and  best practices
  • maintain a viable curriculum, provide quality instruction, and assess our students with fidelity
  • make individualized student decisions that will continue their growth
