Dear Swartz Creek Families,
A bomb threat made against the Swartz Creek High School Performing Arts Center from a social media account was reported today through OK2SAY. District administration worked in partnership with the Michigan State Police and local law enforcement, who conducted a thorough on-site investigation, including K9 sweeps of the building both inside and out.
The threat was determined to be NOT credible, and the individual responsible for the post is now in custody. Law enforcement confirmed the individual was not on school property at any time in the past 48 hours based on a GPS locator assigned to the individual. There is no ongoing threat.
Out of an abundance of caution, Metro Police will increase their police presence tomorrow at the high school.
We are grateful for the swift response of our local law enforcement partners and for the individual who reported the concern through OK2SAY.
We look forward to welcoming students and staff back for a normal school day tomorrow, Monday, April 13.
Sincerely,
Wayne Wright
Interim Superintendent, Swartz Creek Community Schools
This is a reminder about important upcoming deadlines related to the K-5 Reconfiguration for the 2026–2027 school year.
Non-resident Schools of Choice families:
Surveys indicating your preference for building assignment are due by Monday, March 23.
Building assignments will be finalized and families will be notified during Spring Break.
Resident families:
You should have received an email with your child’s assigned building for next year based on your street address.
That email also includes a form if you would like to request In-District School of Choice and ask for placement different from the assigned building.
The street address placement list and all reconfiguration resources are available here:
Transportation webpage https://www.swartzcreek.org/page/transportation
K-5 Reconfiguration Hub https://www.swartzcreek.org/page/k-5-reconfiguration
All K-5 Reconfiguration information
https://www.swartzcreek.org/page/k-5-reconfiguration
If you did not receive the placement email, please contact the school office where your child currently attends. Staff can update your email address in PowerSchool and resend the information.
Thank you for your attention to these deadlines as we prepare for next year’s transition.
Our district is participating in a statewide Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education Survey in partnership with the Michigan Association of Superintendents and Administrators (MASA) and Hanover Research.
We invite families, caregivers, and community members to share their perspectives on how AI is being used in education and what considerations matter most as schools continue to explore these tools. Your feedback will help us better understand community experiences, questions, and priorities related to AI.
The survey takes approximately 8-10 minutes to complete and is available in multiple languages. Results will be shared with our district and used to inform decisions about how AI can be implemented safely, responsibly, and in ways that benefit students and staff. The survey closes on April 1, 2026.
Thank you for partnering with us and helping ensure our approach to AI reflects the values and voices of our broader community.
